Talking Sawanson Kit-VS-Talon66 PCV Kit

I did a search but no help. Lot's of mixed reviews. What kit completly stops the oil in the intercooler and intake boot? Don't want to hurt performance. Tired of cleaning oil, it's destorying the K&N filter. The sawanson plugs up a hose and gases are force through a 1/16 inch hole right, will this clog up?

THANKS

I did the Swanson kit kinda. Basically bought the EV-98-B part for 5 bucks at the local Ford dealership (It is a Ford part) and slapped it on.

Seems to be working great (knock on wood)....

(By the way, it is a replacement PCV valve)

Did the pvc value work without the dime size plug? You have no oil in the intake nor intercooler.

Just a little info here. I took my EV-98-B off!!

Why you may ask. Well, I changed my oil last week, 3 days before WFC. I had this in, well today I decide to check my oil level. It was almost 1 qt low. I'll stay with the stock PCV for now.

I don't know where all that oil could have gone. I never had this problem before the new PCV. Oh BTW I am runnig a breather cap as well. When i was at WFC and looked at my boot, there was oil in there. More than normal.

I think I may end up going with one of thos OIL separator thingys. But a fancy one. Not an unsightly Air compressor filter.

Any opinions are welcome.

I recently checked my stock PVC valves and discovered the passengers side PCV valve had popped off and was just sitting on top of the hole it was suppose to be in. It had been that way for a long time, never got a engine light or had exessive oil lost. There was a small amount of oil running down the engine but nothing major. Now I took that PCV valve off and looked at it closely and it is very similiar to the EV-98-B which I have not installed yet(lets air out but not back in). I think someone here has said the driveside is a clear open hole, no little thing rattling in the middle of the PCV valve like the passenger's side.

So if the driver's side was ment to be open to drain the oil back into the valve cover and you replace it with a new PVC valve that only lets air escape... it might explain why you are loosing alot more oil.

This might explain why the swanson kit block's the upper hole into the plenum with a metal disk. Which TOTALLY defeats the new $25 PVC valve you just purchased.

Something about the drivers side pcv valve is too close to the valve train and picks up the oil there. The passengers side is generally ok.

QSilvr, is your breather on the passenger's side?

Of course I might just be stupid!

You should not use a breather cap with the DS kit................

Jason, really? I'm sorry to hear that!

You don't really need a Oil Breather with your EV 98B valve.

I still see trace amounts of oil in my boot and TB but nothing I'm really complaining about. The EV 98B seems to help out a bit.

(Of course, I never had much oil in the intake area to begin with...*knock on wood*)

If you have bigger pulley's the vacumm will be greater inside the valve covers and so will the amounts of oil in your intake.

I have stock pulley's and only see small amounts now in the intake.

I am running a 4lber. Maybe I'll just stay with the breather cap. Didn't seem to have an oil problem with just the OIL Breather.

Also I put the new PCV on the PASENGER side not the drivers side.

Your driver side pcv valve is still operating, the DS kit basically shuts is down.
This seems not to be a good thing as you would think both valve covers would need to vent equally. Plugs could pop!

Most of your oil is gonna come from the driver's side pcv valve.

I'm gonna check my pcv valves tonight to see what the difference is.
