Is it necessary to have a cross-over pipe?

Was wondering if it is necessary to have a cross-over with a aftermarket exhaust? I'm looking at maybe changing mine and the one I'm looking at does not have one.

well that mostly depends on your mufflers. some mufflers like our stock ones a basically a builtin X pipe, but with a bassani exhaust or silver bullet you'll need a X-pipe. You really don't need it, but I wouldn't think about running without one cause your going to loose power.

the common cat backs come with X pipes when you buy them anyway.

Not to mention it will sound like crap without a crossover. like all the old trucks with a quick dual pipe conversion.
