hitch removal



Is the hitch a "bitc# to get off the truck? I think I'm going to take mine off. I'm sure I'll never have to tow anything until I remove it.

Sorry about the subject-I started to comment about something else and hit the wrong dam button, so I figured why waste the post.

Just make sure it is supported or it will drop on your chest........it is heavy

I cut a 2 X 6 31 inches long (I think) then placed the 2 X 6 between the rails on the hitch, jacked the floor jack up under the board till the rear of the truck started to lift. Un screwed the bolts, got out from under the truck and lowered the jack

my 8 bolts were hammered on there pretty good, so you might need an impact wrench

Also, it's easy to put back on too, but if you do want to tow something, you can always put a ball on the stock bumper. It is rated for as much as the towing capacity is (5000 lbs.).
