Question First oil change in 03L

Hey guys, what's the consensus these days on when to do the first oil change? On my 01 I changed it at 500 and then at 1000 with dino oil using the good Motorcraft filter. Unfortunately that gave me the dieseling / mables in a can syndrome. My new 03 has about 1400 miles and I've had it for about 3 months now. My car guy instinct tells me to change it now but I wonder if I should run it a little longer? All input is welcome.
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff I changed mine at 1200 with synthetic... and I got the 'syndrome'. Matter of fact, it was doing it before I changed the oil. It's at the dealer right now for that and some other minor probs.

About 10 other L guys and myself are planning on hitting the Pavillions this Saturday if your interested!

I changed mine at 500 miles with Motorcraft oil and filter. I have 2400 miles on it now and plan on changing it again at 3000 miles. Probably going to stay with the Motorcraft oil and filter again. Mine seems to be doin just fine, no unusual noises(fingers crossed)

personally, i would change it after about 50 miles to start, then about 1500 and then 3000 and then every 6000 after, or something like that. I like to do one early just to get any possible shavings out of there asap, if theres gonna be any, chances are they will all show up in the first 50 miles or so, after that it should be very light if at all. Leaving it syn or non-syn i wont comment on, i just dont have enough data.

I'll be there. Not meeting up at MCC, but I'll be by the Pavillions around 7:30 or so. The missus is gonna bring the Mullet Bullet (99' Camaro SS) and I'll be in the L.

When my truck was new I used Valvoline 5W-20 with great results. When I got to 9-10,000 miles I switched to mobil1, I never got any marble sounds
