Better gas Mileage with MSD

Installed an MSD Stacker 8. I always got low 12's for gas mileage. Just prior to the stacker I got 11.8MPG. Best ever was 12.4 MPG. With the Stacker 14.7 MPG. This is mostly lower speed driving, lots of stop and go, and a 100 ft burnout. I think that I would pick up quite a bit with highway cruising.

Any other benefits? Setbacks? How much $$$?

I may have to invest in one of these since I'm getting anywhere from 8-10 mpg in town

I have been wondering that myself in regards to the Plasma Booster. I have not been able to drive the truck enough after installing mine in order to get a good guesstimate. I am running low on gas, so I should be able to give you guys my thoughts shortly.

Ive been seeing good results, power wise with the Stacker 8 with Cobras and have considered going to it this summer. How was the installation?

Power is higher. I don't know how much though and I don't have any dyno or ET's to back it up. It seems to pull in the upper range harder. Throttle response seems better also.

I put a spare plug on it and fired the truck up. It looks like a ball of spark above the electrode. It looks like 6 fires at the same time, even though it's every 20 degrees of crank rotation.

The instructions sucked. If anybody gets one I'll explain the wiring. Basically it's the outside 4 wires on both ends of the plug that screws into the computer. Their is also a wire to connect into that I found by tracing all of the wires. I found a great place to mount it, and so far 75% of the people that I show can't find it. I put it right behind the passenger headlight in the engine bay. I removed the battery tray and washer fluid to get to it. I used a 90 degree on a dremel with a drill bit to drill 3 holes to mount the main unit. I could install another within 1 hr. It always helps to know what to do.

I bought mine from an individual, but it was brand new. I got everything but the sticker. It cost me ~295 US after shipping from canada.

I choose the MSD over the plasma booster because with the MSD the spark intensity is increased, and has multiple high power sparks.

Just a heads up. The Stacker 8 #7020 was discontinued last year after a few months when it released. I believe there was some compatibilty problems with the GM vehicles. MSD is supposed to come out with an improved version soon. But who knows when.

I bought mine from a guy that had a GM. It only works on Ford I guess. I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not. I heard that also last year. I didn't want to wait any longer. It's listed on their website, and other sites still cary it. I think that RPMoutlet is one of them. And if you ask them they will tell you that they still make them.

I called tech support to make sure that their wasn't an order to which plug gets which wire. The tech guy actually answered the phone and answered my question immediately. They must have sold quite a few of these units to be able to do that.

This unit is top notch. I also forgot to mention that their are 8 LED's surface mounted to the top of the unit. They were so flush I didn't even notice them until after it was running. Way cool to see 8 lights running.
