Thinking of trading in L

For an 03 Cobra. Would you guys do it? My brother wants to buy my L and I like the new Cobra(who doesn't). But I could probably only afford a slightly used one. What would you guys do?

I guess I don't really like the new Cobra... not as eye catching and graceful as the Lightning. Then again, I haven't liked a Mustang since the '96 and up Mustangs came about.

If that is what you want to do, then go for it.

You will just be among another crowd of mustangs. All look alike. Prepare for no storage space. Cant have a lot of people with you and all the creaks, rattles and noises that will begin at around 25,000 miles.

Then there is the weak half shafts, gas guzzler tax, i can go on and on.

There wont be a cobra for a few years after this one. You probably end up with a 5 digit build # like 14583 of 17683 made.

Don't take what these guys say personally. The Cobras are awesome machines and if that's what you want, then go for it. It would be a neat car to own.

Mustangs changed over in 94' and to me are much nicer looking than the previous version. They have some rounded body curves like a Lightning has, where the earlier ones were kind of boxy like the pre 97 F150. To each his own though, as I have been a fan of all the Mustangs. Some just more so than others.

I love the L but I have always loved mustangs. I really could care less if they are a dime a dozen. If i had a chance at a new Cobra, you bet your azz I'd get it over the L. I have owned 4 stangs and never had a problem with squeaks and rattles. My only problem i have ever had was on the 01 GT. It kept blowing trannys. of course you will not have that problem since I had the brittle t-45 and the new cobras have the t-56.

I will say that the L will get more looks, but the cobra will be alot more fun to drive, and to me that is more important than turning heads.

Dont think i am flaming our beloved Lightnings, lord knows I love the chit out of mine, but a new 03 COBRA

Frank

Since I have both(I probaly drive the cobra more then Teri), here is my experience.

As much as I love driving the Cobra, I get a lot more reaction from the Lightning.

there is a thousand 10 second mustangs. So most people are not impressed. most think its just a reg. Mustang.

But the Lightning stops people in there tracks.

It all matters what your goal is. A Cobra and a KB is a good start to a fast car w/ not a lot of worries.

Had an '01. The only thing I miss is being able to throw stuff in the bed...

You can go faster for cheaper, if that's what you want. I like both equally. They both have their strong points and weak points.

The only thign that I would hesitate on is you said "I can only afford"... if you are barely able to make getting the vehicle, it probably wouldn't be the wisest TO get it. You might not be able to afford when you break things racing it..
