You know life is tough when...

you have to start trying to decide whether to get a bike or a built motor...

I'll have a healthy chunk of change after this summer and I guess it's never too early to start dreaming and drooling over the ways I can quench my speed addiction.

I'll have about 3000 or so from summer (summer job in addition to summer school ). The built motor will cost a little more than 3000 but I should be able to wing it. I've gotten quoted around 3500-4000 depending on the hardware used and how far I want to go for the boost I want to run.

With the bike, a nice starter sport bike (around 600cc) will range from 6000 (including tax and title) to about 8000. I would consider everything from a brand new YZF 600 to a 600 F4i (used). I've heard insurance isn't that bad even for my age (19) and the good thing about the bike purchase is I will be able to put my money towards a down-payment and do about 200/month payments depending on the interest rate of course.

I've never really had bike experience but I know I have the ability to learn pretty quick. I know I will enjoy riding and have no doubt that this path would be well worth it. However, living in Indiana means you'll really only be able to ride only a couple of months out of the year actively. I would be able to enjoy the built motor year-round (except for 2-3 months of intermittent snow of course).

Well, opinions and even flames are welcome. Thanks in advance for any input.

Get two summer jobs and get both! HaHaHa. That is a tough decision. I like bikes and would love a Honda RC-51. But on the other hand I know I would probably end up dead on one, and I don't think I want that. I built motor would be great this way you can run more boost and not live in fear all the time. It still is a very hard decision to make. Bikes are sweet. I would love to get rid of my Jetski and get one. -Mat-

Hellz Ya,

cyntaxx,

Bikes are awesome, I drove for many years,
just remember, they are just as bad with the
Mods as the Lightning, (but cheaper)

After market Exhuast, Tires, Carbs, Sprockets, bars, etc...
All add up quick. But dam do they fly, every light is like runing the 1/4

That sounded good,
Hey the old man may have to get another myself

If you buy a bike you may want to buy one used since you don't have any experiance because it sucks when you lay down your new bike. Trust me on that one!

From: Colorado,
I vote for a used SV650! Light, agile and quick.
The good gas mileage is nice also.
Variety is nice how about a different cartoon chick
