Bassani header install instructions

Thought this might be of interest to some of you. There is more involved then explained on another website out there! If you want the whole document with pictures just email me.

Hardware and Parts List

(1) Left side header
(1) Right side header
(1) Manifold gasket set
(1) Left side heat shield (Small)
(1) Right side heat shield (Large)
(1) E.G.R. Tube adapter
(16) 8mm-1 ¼ x 30 Header bolts
(1) 5/16-18 x ½” bolts
(2) 3/8-16 x ¾” bolts
(4) 3/8-16 x 2 ½” bolts
(6) 3/8” Flat Washers
(6) 3/8” Flange nuts
(4) Nylon Wire ties
(1) Tube of Bassani Anti-seize jet lube

Installation Instructions

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheels and inner fender splash liners. (See photo 1)
3. Remove driver and passenger side factory equipped exhaust manifolds. (See photos 2 & 3)
4. Remove E.G.R. tube from engine and set aside. (See photo 4)
5. Remove oil dipstick tube. (See photo 5)
6. Remove exhaust manifold mounting studs from engine. (See photo 6 &7)
7. Cut passenger side upper shock mount. (See photo 8)
8. Using supplied 8mm header bolts install exhaust gaskets to cylinder heads. Install bolts in lower holes only, leaving approximately ½” of threads exposed between the cylinder heads and the bolt heads. (See photo 9)
9. Install the right side Bassani header through the fender opening. Guide the lower slotted holes of the header flange over the previously installed 8mm header bolts. (See photo 10)
10. Install the upper row of 8mm header bolts at this time.
11. Torque bolts evenly to approximately 25 ft. lbs.
12. Remove left side motor mount thru-bolt. (See photo 11)

13. Lower left side factory exhaust pipe by:
F-150 - Loosening the u-bolt clamp at the rear of the pipe.
Rotate the pipe towards the ground. (See photo 12)
SVT Lightning - Remove pipe from factory muffler and hangers.
Lower pipe towards the ground.
14. Lift left side of engine by jacking underneath the left side of the transmission bell housing.
(See photo 13)
15. With the engine lifted, install the left side header through the fender opening. (See photo 14)
16. Before attempting to bolt up the header, lower the engine back to it’s original position.
Re-Install and torque motor mount thru-bolt at this time. (See photo 15)
17. Position the left side header over the exposed threads of the previously installed 8mm header bolts.
18. Install upper 8mm header bolts.
19. Torque bolts evenly to 25 ft. lbs.
20. Using supplied hardware, re-install left and right side factory exhaust pipes at this time. (See photo 16)
21. Re-Install the oil dipstick tube.
22. Re-Install the E.G.R. A slight bend may be needed on either end of the tube to facilitate installation. (See photos 17 and 18)
23. Install the small heat shield on the drivers side header pipe using the supplied 5/16”-18 bolt.
(See photo 19)
24. Check for proper clearance between header and break line. Adjust if needed. (See photo 20)
25. Install large heat shield on the passenger side upper control arm brackets using the supplied hardware. (See photo 21)
26. Re-install left and right side inner fender splash shields. Pay attention to the routing of the ABS wiring, etc. Use supplied wire ties to tie up any loose wiring. (See photo 22)
27. Re-Install and torque front wheels.
28. Lower vehicle. Your installation is now complete.

By any chance do you still have those pictures from a long time ago when you made this thread?

I did it a little different. I removed both mounting bolts and shifted the motor and slid the header from underneath. Didn't have to mess with any of the clutter in the tire well.

Jeff sold his L not long after this and bought a Cobra. I haven't seen or heard from him since. Maybe try his email in his profile if he had one listed.

I believe I am the one that bought his headers about 2 years ago.
