Fuel Filter Replacement

I just picked up a 99 L with 19k miles on it. Next weekend I'm going to change the oil and fuel filter. Can anyone give me some guidance on chaning the fuel filter? Where is it located? Is there a special tool to remove it? Any tips, etc?

Thanks for the help.

there are plenty of threads on this, just do a search, type in fuel filter, and there's been a couple posts w/ detailed install help w/ pics.

Changing the filter literally takes only a few minutes to do. It's located inside the frame on the drivers side below the cab. Just crawl under and look, you'll see it. You will need some rags and a fuel line disconnect. The rags you will need to catch the excess fuel when you pull the lines off. There are little clips you have to pop off before you use the disconnect tool. I believe you just push them towards the filter and swing them out of the way. Be sure you relieve the pressure in the fuel system by taking off the gas cap or pressing the little schrader valve on the passenger side fuel rail. Piece of cake.
