Question Tire Pressure 555r's at track ?

What tire pressure are you running with 555r's at the track? I ran 24 with my F1's and hopefully if the weather cooperates I will try the 555r's out at 75-80 tommorrow. I did not get a slot at Cecil.

I ran at the track today and had mixed results. I started at 20lbs and kept lowering them until I was at 16lbs. I did manage a few 1.9 60fts (my best with the F1's was 2.02). There was a 30mph head wind and my mph was down from 107.5 to 104. I ran 10 runs between 13.01 and 13.2 and 1 12.96. I still had to drive the truck out. If I nailed it I would spin them to the 60 ft line. I did a 5 second burn out each time and they sure looked sticky. I do need traction bars now as I got some wheel hop.

I run mine at 30lbs on the street. I ran 18lbs at the track and nailed a 1.78 60', with consistent 1.8x's. Running them at 16lbs ended up hurting my times. Next time I go to the track they will be back to 18.

How was your hole shot? Were you preloading the converter (and if so what rpm) or just coming out at idle? Also were you nailing it or driving out?

If your question was directed at me I was launching at about 1200rpms and nailing it. It depends on your track though. Some nights mine is prepped well and I can nail it, other nights it's not and I have to drive it out.

Thanks, I ran a 12.89 on the F1's at 107.7 with a 2.02 60ft. I was disapointed with the 555r's in that although I ran 1.9 60fts I lost 3mph. I am hoping the loss of mph was due to the 30mph head wind and not the tires being a bit taller. The track seemed slippery as I had to drive out. If I nailed it I spun quite a bit past the 60ft light. It was hard to get the feel for it. It seemed inconsitant. I probably should have just gotten the Hoosiers and went to the trouble changing them at the track. With them it should be less likely to spin I would hope.

They take a while to figure out. When I first got mine I was cutting 1.9's as well. Just experiment and try different things until you find what works. One thing is for sure though you have to burnout with them for a good 5-7 seconds. Gotta get the heat in to them to get them to stick. Don't be afraid to roast em.

NITTO

NITTO's are great. I've run them religiously for almost a year. I cut 1.70 - 1.73 60' times all day on stock converter. 17 - 19 lbs max. And yes, 5 - 6 second heat cycle up to the line. The ONLY thing I don't like is the fact that they are almost 29" tall which has hurt my ET. Otherwise, they're great. If I ever get an aftermarket converter I'm confident I could nail 1.66 or so 60' times with them. Also, I run at 25lbs on the street. Hope this helps.

I ordered a set of the new Hoosier 28x14.5x16 Quick Time Pro's and 10" AR wheels. This should resolve andy issues I have with traction. I will use the 555r's for the street only.

i would stay at 24 with the dr's, if you were in a 3500 lb car, you might go to 15 or so, at 24 i could cut as good a times as my 28x10.5 drags set at 14

they do need to be hot, you could go as low as 22, but no more than that, too much rolling resistance
