A question about changing plugs
Hi Everyone,
I have what is probably a stupid question. I am getting ready to jump in an change the plugs for the first time on my 2001 (before I launch one).
I've read a lot of the suggestions you guys have had in the past for the best way to do it (Jack Daniels is ready...). One thing I keep reading is to make sure you use a "swivel extension". Now, is this different from the "u-joint" type swivel I have in my socket set? Some have talked about a plug wrench with a swivel built in. Again, is it similar to the u-joint type, or is it something different?
Other than that wish me (and my truck) luck! I changed them twice on my old Typhoon, and that was a hassle with all the turbo plumbing, but at least the 4.3 had 2 fewer plugs and the engine wasn't jammed up under the firewall!

Yes, the U-joint you mention and a swivel are the same.
It is a time consuming ritual changing the plugs on the L, but if you take your time its not that bad.
If you use the "search" feature here you can locate a very detailed and throughly written instruction sheet on what tools you should have and etc. I can not remember who wrote it, but he did a marvelous job.

I dont even use a swivel. The only one that you might need it on is the 3rd one back on the drivers side. I got one of those long double sided close ended wrenches that are sort of bent up about 35 degrees and put it on the coil pack bolt with the handle facing down and back towards the firewall. Works like champ.
