I got pulled over a week ago on my way to Indy. I was still in Lafayette turning at an intersection. The left turn light had just went off so it was just a solid green for those going straight. I yielded and then decided to go when I saw that the next car going straight (across the intersection from me) had decided to turn into the neighboring gas station. As I turned on the intersection I got into it a little. Maybe got up to 40 or so and just let off because I knew the upcoming road was cop territory. Well next thing you know I'm seeing flashing lights from a maroon Malibu behind me.

Him: Nice radar detector you've got there
Me: Thanks.
Him: You know how fast you were going?
Me: Dunno...under 40 for sure.
Him: Well it's a 30 here.
Me: No it isn't, pointing to the sign that said 35.
Him: Well it was 30 back there. You turned kinda fast and I heard you get on it. You trying to drag race?
Me: No. My exhaust is just loud.
Him: Well I paced you at 45.
Me: Really? 45?
Him: Yea, see you just said so yourself. You were going 45 and it's a 35 here.
Me: I never said I was going 45. I was just wondering...
Him: Well I paced you going 45 cuz you shot up right behind me and I was doing the limit.
Me: Oh okay...

I end up getting a warning. If I had gotten a ticket I would've fought it since I don't know how he is pacing me when I passed him with more acceleration. Since he had just turned on that intersection too, he could've only been going 20-25 and thus my legal 35 would've looked fast just because I was accelerating faster than him.

Good thing about this? I found out my license is no longer suspended since he ran my tag (I assume)....

Thanks occifer.

got a drunk driving story for ya

My friend bought a '99 Lightning new, put 3400 miles on it, got his 3rd drunk driving ticket, they impounded the truck, in fall of '99. he went to jail (work release) Guess when the next time the truck was driven>>>>?????<<<<<<

Fall of 2002 when I test drove it and bought it off him.

Lemme tell you, he had a brand new truck (still to this day smells new) with 3400 miles on it, and was immobilized by the court. He couldn't sell it, unless it was to someone unrelated to him.
so I convinced the judge (Golfed together) that I should releive him of this burden.

He paid over $35,000 for the truck, I bought it for $17,000.

he drove it 3400 miles. Now busting out the calculator you figure he paid
$5.30/mile.

everyone together now:

Well he was the lucky one becasue on almost the same day I got pulled over for passinga car on the shoulder of the freeway and since the HIghway Patrolman was intraining I got a ticket for passing on the right shoulder. Thing is I only had about 1-1/2' of my truck actauuly on the shoulder and it was an offramp that i was getting off on anyway. A pretty bogus ticket all in all and if it was worth the time and effort I would fight mine but it easier in the long run to just pay the fine. Looks like I am off to traffic school. O yeah I hadent had a ticket in almost 20 years orior to this. It just goes to show you not all cops are the same.

An off duty sheriff's deputy was drunk driving earlier this year here in TN. He was in his patrol car and hit another car and ran. He wasn't taken to jail and I'm pretty sure he still has his job. So If you are a cop it does pay...

"Barry Kincaid, 47, was asked to resign by the sheriff two weeks ago.

On January 12, Kincaid pulled up at a truck stop on Peytonsville Road and side swiped another car parked there, according to police records.

The owner of the car called the sheriff's department and two deputies were dispatched to the scene.

Moments after arriving, the deputies noticed it was an unmarked patrol car that had done the damage.

The two met with Kincaid, who was not on duty at the time in the truck stop convenience store and said he reeked of alcohol.

The next morning Kincaid was asked to resign after he admitted that he was driving drunk.

Kincaid was not facing any criminal charges."

ME: home...he Checked my Liscense and told me to slow it down before you kill someone out here...I was a nervous as heck b/c I don't normally act stupid like that with my truck and to get pulled over.. You got lucky!!

I was pulled over about about 3 weeks ago. This is only the second time in 45,000 miles. The first was when the truck was brand new, and the cops just wanted to check her out.

This most recent was on my last trip to Nevada from Arizona. I was towing the car trailer empty. I didn't make it 40 miles from home. I mentioned to the wife, before I left, on how I should stick in the radar detector. She said "You will not need it with the trailer loaded". I said that I was worried about it with it empty.

I didn't hook up the brake controller, and was drifting off a hill and picked up a little speed. The limit there was 55mph.

Lo & behold..........parked on the downhill and around a corner, was the trooper.

Just moving to Arizona, I don't recognize their cars very well yet. He pulled me over. I keep both hands in plain site on the steering wheel. He asks if I know how fast I was going ? I say 68mph. He said I got you at 74mph on radar. Then he says "My son wants one of these. And he's not getting a new one".

Then he asks if there is a firearm in the vehicle. I say Yes. He wants to know where it's at ? I tell him. Then he asks if it's in a holster. I tell him Yes. He didn't ask about it again. I really wanted to show off my SIG.

He gave me a written warning, and I went on my way. A few miles down the road, I hooked up the trailer brake controller, and Cobra 148 CB radio.

Guess what happens to my wife in her '03 Tribute a few nights ago while I'm riding passenger ??? About 60+ miles from where I was stopped...........on a different hwy., she gets stopped by the same officer while dropping off a hill (he was on a blind corner again)at night. She was doing 72mph. in a 55 zone. These were both 2 lane rural highways.

Think what went through my head when I recognize this same officer ??

Luckily, she got a written warning also.

I had mentioned to her earlier that day about putting her Valentine One into the Tribby. We didn't do it though.

She said I jinxed her by mentioning that earlier.
