Open Filter Kit Needed for Testing in Phoenix on Friday
For anyone who lives in or near Phoenix...I am looking to get my hands on a filter kit from one of the tuners (JDM, Sal or Johnny) so I can do some dyno testing this coming Friday (4/11). I only need to borrow it for an hour or so and you can be there the whole time...hell, I'll even throw your truck on the dyno and do a few free pulls for you for the trouble. I dynoed a few mods last week and got some interesting results...I just want to put a filter on it so people don't instantly point out the fact that I run the stock airbox and that's why I'm not seeing any gains from what I've done.
Wish I could help you man, I would love to get a baseline on my 03 before I started modding anything. All I have is a K&N to replace the stock filter in the box at the moment. I was just planning on modifying the stock box to suck more cool air.
Don't know if your interested, but some other L owners are planning on meeting this weekend for the big Central Ave cruise...

Thanks anyway...yeah, I saw the info on the cruise this weekend and Dave (who has defected over to the Harley side of the camp) is trying to get me to go. I may make it out there if I don't get too involved with the Viper Days going on out at PIR this weekend.

I've got a friend who has a shop with a dyno. He lets me use it when it's not booked for race cars and I do all of the tying down, pulls, printouts, etc. so he can do his normal stuff without being bothered. If you want to dyno your truck we can slap it on and it would be $60 for three pulls with A/F.

I'll be down there all day this Friday...just swing by mid-afternoon and I should be done with my stuff and we can throw your truck on. I suggest getting there with enough time to let your truck cool for an hour or so. Shoot me an e-mail at dandkmcguire@***.net if you can make it and I'll hook it up.

P.S. There's only one rule...I'm not responsible for anything that happens to the truck while it's on the dyno. You're handing me the grenade...I'm just pulling the pin. And I've only blown up one truck while it was on the dyno!

Dan, you can certainly borrow my PSP setup for your testing. Which shop are you going to be dynoing at? I'm up in north Phoenix. Send me an email with the details.

grinomyte,
One out of five...I figure a 20% failure rate isn't so bad. Actually, I did do a pull on a friend's truck when he lost one of the crank damper bolts on his '99 (at about 5500rpm), which proceeded to take out his stock fan and radiator. I about crapped myself when the smoke started pouring out until I realized it had that familiar coolant smell. As it turned out, he had already lost one of the three bolts and the third one was backing out as well. Better to find it on the dyno with a good selection of tools at hand that 200 miles outside of BFE. Plus it gave him an excuse to do the electric fan and Cobra water pump.
Kingpin,
I'll be going to Technodyne in Tempe (right at University and McClintock).
