How to check for head gasket problem?

Question How to check for head gasket problem?
Is there any easy way to check for a head gasket problem short of having them tear the engine apart?

Leak down test.

You can also have a radiator shop test for combustion gases in the coolant.

1. Drive up on ramps
2. lay under truck
3. shine light up onto both sides of engine (at heads)
4. if no oil leak observed should be ok
