seems I may have a new problem...
At the moment, I'm still trying to figure out if its the engine or the tranny.
I can only get it to repeat on downshifts into 4th gear so far as I can notice, so I'm thinking it may be the tranny.
When I nail it from 70-80+, it downshifts and then tries to pull, but instead of pulling cleanly, it seems to be like its having breakup, or the tranny isn't fully engaging or something. At the moment, its hard to describe. You can definately feel it, it's like a pulsing/drivetrain vibration, but I'm wondering if it also may be ignition breakup from the engine being under its toughest load?
Help. I'd prefer it to be a boken tranny, just incentive for me to buy gregg's box sooner then to have to go back and deal with the engine again.

Could possibly be a plug issue where the tips could be damaged and they seem to fire fine at low revs but under high rev load the spark isnt happening. I think I have heard of this causing power/studdering/noise problems under higher revs. Just a thought
About 12,000 miles ago, I'll swap it out, see if it helps. I don't know about the coil packs, they were fine before I went in for service.
I'm hoping its not the head gaskests, I'd hate to have that downtime again with the start of race season.

I don't think it would be the head gaskets, but if Iam so friggin smart, how come Iam not working?
Hey wait a minute........Haven't worked in 4 months while the weather was crap, played with my truck and played with the ladies. I must be a friggin genius

No, I am distinctly losing power in the high gear kick-down... once this now passes, I'll try to do some testing to see if I can feel/hear it in a 1/2 wot shift. I didn't notice it then, only on the 80mph+ kickdowns to fourth.
Is it the same load on the engine in a dead-stop WOT as a 80mph kickdown?
It didn't seem to have a problem when the regular RPM sweep through the 1-2-3 gears went up to 5k, but only when it downshifts in gear and tries to hop from 3k to 5k.

Dan:
Hesitation or stumble during acceleration:
1. Ign. system not operating properly.
2. Dirty or clogged fuel injectors.
3. Low fuel pressure--weak pump, restrictions, dirty filter.
4. F/i or eng. control systems malfunction.
Engine lacks power:
1. Incorrect ign. timing.
2. Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs.
3. Dirty air filter.
4. Faulty ign. coils.
5. Auto. trans. fluid level incorrect, causing slippage.
6. Clogged fuel filter.
7. EGR not functionong properly.
8. Vacuum leaks.
9. Dirty fuel injs.
10. Restricted exhaust system.

Too much eng. oil can cause a power loss due to the crank 'beating' the oil(try slamming your fist down into a tcb full of water for that effect). Don't think that has anything to do with your problem though?
As to overfilling the trans--be sure you're checking it correctly. Don't know if slipping can be caused by over or under filling?
