and now, down to one...
Well, looks like my chrome wheels are now on their last leg. These were a set of real Ford Motorsport (FMS) chrome 2000 wheels. Got them for $279 each from TireRack a while back.
The two fronts are now flaking all over the place. It seems the combination of the high heat from my big brakes and the brake dust just eats through the plating. Bear in mind, that I cleaned my wheels weekly because of the amount of dust the Brembo pads produce. The rear wheel (last picture) is the rim I curbed last week when going to get gas. The leaves me with one unscathed rim on the truck (the rear left).
I have a question about replacements... I'm currently chatting with Bogart about some custom set wheels, plus I also had a chat with weldcraft with modifying some OEM 2000 wheels (front two 18x10, rears 18x12 with modified offset)... What holds up best to dust and heat? Billet? Anodized? Painted and clear coated? Its pretty obvious to me that I cannot run another set of chrome rims unless I feel like changing rims along with brakes every once in a while.

back to silver?
I've never had a problem with heat damage on my painted 20's or the stock 18s. And I have REALLY pushed the heat envelope. Of course, I also make sure I cool my brakes down before putting it in park.
