Question on mounting 20 inch tires
Question on mounting 20 inch tires
I have to get my new 20s mounted on my new wheels . What machine should I be looking for or what National companies (Goodyear,STS,etc....)do you guys know of that mount 20s without worry.
Also one that uses stick on weights and not the bang in ones.
Thanks for the help.

hell my shop (ford shop) has a POS machine that will do it, i've seen HD wheels done on it, and we stock stick on weights, and i'm the only one that uses them.
problem is the balance machine <---- it can barely do my stock 18's

Vin,
My mechanic told me to look for I think its called "EuroTire" on Rt46 in I think Little Ferry, I'll double check the name and place.
They specialize in exotics (lambo, ferrari, etc) and are supposed to be able to handle the bigger tires.

Vinnie, The tire machine you want used on your wheels is a "rim clamp" style tire changer, it grabs the inside of the rim and "expands" to hold the wheel assembly.(poly protectors) It will turn the entire wheel ,as a stationary arm that comes straight down, manipulates the tire onto the rim but NEVER actually touches the rim! As far as balance, any computer "spin" balancer has a setting for different placements of the weights on your rims. It will allow the installer to actually place the "outside" weights just inside the "hub" area on the backside and, the "inside" weights can be placed close to the traditional location. NTB and believe it or not SEARS uses these machines, they only as good as the installer using them though. Hope this helps ...... Jon
