Cool Installed Alpine DVA7996

Everyone,

Someone posted a bit ago about the DVA7996. Its a Single DIN, in-dash DVD/CD/AM/FM/XM/Changer Controller. I finished up my first take on the install. Its F'ing rocking!!! I'm not big on head numbing bass, but I do love a crystal clear sound. So, heres a few pics first:

The wiring. 4 Ga from Optima Yellow top. Block takes it to 8Ga. 4Ga to the .5 farad cap. 4Ga from ground block.

OK, so I was a little different. Joe Satriani on the passenger visor. The DVD7996 doesn't have a built in screen. Its built for a rear-seat type setup.

Whats really cool with the 7996 is that its true multi-source. The passenger can watch DVD and listen via headphones while the driver simultaneously listens to any other main source through the speakers. Of course DVD can play through the main speakers. Thats the 6.5" Alpine LCD....

more coming..................

Cool Stereo setup cont'd...

I used an Alpine MRV-F450 Amp. Its 50x4 + 110x1. I used a 10" Bazooka tube behind the passenger seat, run from the dedicated SW output on the head unit. Curiously enough, the subwoofer covers the carpet that was missing under the stock CD changer....

For speakers, MB Quart components in the front. Custom mounted in door location, with the tweeter located up top. Covered in black stocking material...

Pioneer 4x6 in factory stock location in rear.

At the same time, I added the 01 Expedition center console and the passenger bucket seat mod. 6 Disc changer is mounted in factory center console location. XM Radio module is underneath console as is all wiring.

All in All I am pretty happy. I am going to redo the visor in factory match material at a later date. Right now its a RCH lighter than factory color.

At 15 (1/2 way) on the volume, it plain rocks!!! I mean while watching the Satch DVD I was like:

The bass hits hard and is crystal clear. Also, the Bazooka fits right behind the passenger seat. The seat itself has 100 mobility. Full back movement, and full tilt back without interference.

XM Radio rocks too.... The boneyard is awesome!! AC-DC and the other great rockers from the 80's!!! I just gotta read that head unit manual, its like 1/2" thick....

www.speedsound.com is where I got all parts. They kick butt. Great prices and awesome service.

Any questions, ask.... I'll post more pics later....

Device Manager,

Duhh...I just realized I didn't post the head unit. I'll snap some of the head unit in a bit and post. I do have the ground hooked up to..4 ga from Cap to ground block...8ga from amp to block..4ga block to frame. Whats really cool is those Scoshe blocks are gound or power. Each finger of the block has its own fuse area. They sell "Ground" fuses, basically no fuse, just a fuse shaped platinum connector.

Ryan, Ill see you tomarrow for Burgers and Dogs....

Cyntax, its a came out pretty good. Stereo/Home Theatre is a hobby of mine also. Since the closest 1/4 mile track is 1 hour away and the average track (Cecil & VMP) is 2 hours, the DVD player made sense..At least to me LOL... As long as the wife isn't watching those Julia Roberts movies.. LMAO.

A side note with the passenger seat bucket conversion: The jack and tire iron still fit under there. I mounted nothing under the seats. You'll find the center console to be a dream if you want to add stereo equip... Plenty of room....In fact room to spare.

Rock On!!!
