Unhappy AutoMeter products Compatibility.... problem.

Has anyone ran into a situation where you buy an AutoMeter Gauge and than an AutoMeter Gauge Pod and try sticking one into the other and it just don't fit right?

Well, I ran into this today... bought a nice single gauge pod for my column, unpacked my Boost gauge all happy and **** that it'll fit, stick it in and about a quarter of an inch of white background of the gauge is still showing... the two bolts on the back hit the inner back of the pod and the bezel of the gauge doesn't come close to the pod itself creating an ugly gap....

Is it safe to cut pieces of those bolts on the back of the gauge off, so the thing fits in nicely?

thanks,

I have both and the fit is perfect (Lunar boost 2 1/16). I'd question where you got it. So far as cutting down the bolts i don't see where it would be an issue unless you had a warranty claim....then who knows. My three pod Lotek i wasn't overly impressed with however as it has a couple of slight indentations in it and one area isn't painted "perfectly". The top guage has a very slight "gap" like you describe showing the white background but the thing overall looks good and i didn't want the hastle of sending it back, so it's a keeper.

Steering Column Pod

Anybody have the steering column pod? How's the fit and quality? Saw that RK Kustom has them in stock. Was planning on one for a boost gauge.

i just mounted the autometer gage pod (from Jegs). 1st instruction was to cut off the 2 brass studs on back of gage. after that, everything fit ok. this was the autometer phantom temp gage.

I 2nd this. You have to cut part of each stud off so it will fit fully into the column pod. I have the auto meter steering column pod and an auto meter phantom vav/boost gauge installed. The pod holds the gauge in place fine. I don't even have the pod attached. It stays in place just by snaping on to the column.

I, have the autometer colum pod and the studs do have to be cut to allow the gauage to sit flush! They are brass. Just put a nut all the way down so after you cut it. The steel nut will clean the threads. Hope this helps Artie Note the pillar pod is the same way! I, have Luna series also.
