And explain what good ones should like like compared to these? I'll teach basic German, Korean, and Russian phrases in exchange. That's my specialty Thanks.
sorry for the *****ty picture but it you will get the idea

look at the grooves where the circles are. there should be none. (this is in basic terms)

Oil return issues are well documented on Cobras.

Well, looks like someone attempted to run 10W40 to me and spun a bearing...

4.6's have a oil return problem. They have insane tight clearances that require no more then 5W30.. I ran a 0W30 in mine and overfilled it.

Ever seen a 4.6 DOHC over 6000 rpm? Not one drop of oil in the pan . 7.5 to 8.0 qts is what most mod racers will their crankcase up with. the heads hold so much oil, its not funny.

I have had the Pleasures of beating the ever living crap out of a Cobra 32V DOHC 4.6 for 3 years. 6500 RPM Daily, Chip, Filter, etc... I never ever had a problem (other than 2nd gear) and when I sold it, the motor had 44,000 miles on it

I first agreed that no one could do this in 300 miles
"BUT" while reading the other post and finding out 50% more rubber was missing form the rear tires than the fronts in 300 miles, I got to assume that this motor was put through un-speakable punishment. I'm not blaming the owner, but 50% rubber gone in 2 DAYS is something that CAN NOT be over looked.

here's Chris's words on it:

I don't have any real info from ford as to why the warranty was voided. I can tell you that it was driven HARD.

the owner states that he only owned the car for 1 week, and during that particular week our area was hit with a fairly good sized snow storm. owner states that he could only drive the car for two days out of that week. only 300 or so miles and he basically wasted the rear tires and burned up the clutch. The front tires have 10/32nds of tread depth and the rears only have 5/32nds remaining! Literally HALF of the tread is gone from two days of driving! I've seen clutches with 125,000+ miles with more friction material left on them! This car was abused without a doubt. Did that cause the failure? Thats not my call at this point. Ford says so and thats pretty much the end.

I agree that he was too hard on the car especially during the break-in period.

I can't say that he definately caused the failure, but he didn't help it.

later,
chris

I'll agree, oil return problems, not withstanding. You got to break a motor in "alittle"

I'll walk out on a limb and say his daddy and or mommy bought him the car.

Chris: You have the patience of Job --taking all of those 'wonderful' pics while earning a living!

My hat is off to you sir! Btw, I think the owner is at fault here..................
