Question Best Replacement Head Gasket???????

HI!... I thought I'd post this here since a lot of you LIGHTNING guys have done aftermarket engine (5.4) build ups. O.K, my modded 5.4 has blown both head gaskets now for the 4th time. I'm out of warranty. I good buddy of mine that is a FORD TECH is going to give me a hand replacing the head gaskets. My driver's side is the worst of the two this time. I'm losing about 2 liters of engine oil every 3 weeks. It's leaking in the usual spot between the heads and the block towards the rear of the engine. I' getting all new TTY head bolts and factory gaskets "BUT" DO NOT want to use the same crappy stock FORD head gaskets. Who makes a good quality aftermarket replacement head gasket for the 5.4 that has been proven to work? Does FEL-PRO make one? VENDORS please chime in with what you use on your 5.4 crate engines. My stock "P.I" heads will also be brought to my engine builder for re-surfacing. Any info on this would be GREAT, THANK-YOU.

I think most guys are just using stock ford gaskets bro and there not having to much trouble with them. Maybe the L gaskets are different but I doubt it. And you figure a heavily modded L on a stock motor is pushing more power then your N/A motor and where not having trouble like that, somthing isn't right there why your blowing gaskets so much.

I just asked this question to Sal and he said stock Ford.

He said there are some 1800+ HP rigs out there running this gasket. And there is a new revision that is supposed to fix the oil leak problem.

Yes, Ford has a revised gasket now for the oil leak problem. They are not cheap, but they work very well. I have tried a few aftermarket gaskets and none of them have worked any better than the Ford ones, they just cost more. I've got stock Ford in my truck. Hope this helps.

Cool

HI!... Thanks for the info guys!

SAL : Do you happen to have the part # for the new improved 5.4 head gasket? The reason I ask is because I heard of it already and mentioned it to my dealer's part guy. He asked around and no one there heard of a NEW improved head gasket? They told me that FORD's went back to using the old style "97 - 98" head gaskets because the newer style ones "99" - current were flawed. Is this true? If not a PART # would be a GREAT help. THANK-YOU.
