Chrome heat resistance?
After hearing a "tsk tsk tsk tsk" sound while cruising around today, I tracked it down.
I run the huge Brembo breaks, and with a set of OEM 99-00 wheels, it is a tight fight, and clearances are close...soooo...
Well, it looks like that my racing and hard driving with heating up the breaks is making the chrome on the rims peel and flake.
This is on the inside of the lip edge, all the way around both front rims, the area of the rim that passes closest to the caliper while driving is now starting to flake off.
I scrape some of the bigger flakes off, so my "tsk tsk tsk" noise is gone (chrome flakes rubbing caliper as the wheel went around).
Not much can do about it, short of waiting for that brake venting system over on NLOC, but just FYI for anyone else with chrome wheels and big brakes.
