Tires wearing on the inside

Whats up with the uneven tire wear? Should i just have the alignment checked or is there some mod that needs to be done to the front end?

Most likely due to the front end clunk problem, I noticed while rotating my tires that they all seem to lean one way on the threads, so I guess Im going to have to replace them sooner than expected. Spoke to the dealership, and they claim its normal due to all the weight in the front while making turns. Dont know how true that it though.

It's possible that you have loose (worn) front end parts but it's at least as likely that the toe is out. This is assuming that both tires are showing wear.

I think I have your answer. I took mine in for the clunk several years ago and they fixed it. Never heard another clunk. I noticed inside tire wear when I rotated the tires three weeks ago. I took it back and the tech told me they forgot the camber plates. They put new plates in and I could actually see the difference in the way the front end sat. Ask for some camber plates and they should do the trick.

From: Colorado,
I got this a long time ago and copied to a file of my own. Sorry I don't have the thread.

Lightning specs: Got this from a search on f150online:
L.H. Caster: 6.9, +/- 1.0 Deg.
R.H. Caster: 7.4, +/- 1.0 Deg.
L.H. Camber: -0.5, +/- 0.7 Deg.
R.H. Camber: -0.5, +/- 0.7 Deg.
L.H. Toe: -0.05, +/- 0.15
R.H. Toe: -0.05, +/- 0.15

Lightning Owner preferred:
LH Caster 6.7
RH Caster 7.2
LH Camber -0.5
RH Camber -0.5
LH Toe -0.05 (slight toe in)
RH Toe -0.05 (same)

Base F150: (tolerances same as above)
L.H. Caster: 6.2
R.H. Caster: 6.7
L.H. Camber: -0.3
R.H. Camber: -0.3
L.H. Toe: 0.03
R.H. Toe: 0.03

Ford Alignment spec:
L.H. Caster: 6.9, +/- 1.0 Deg.
R.H. Caster: 7.4, +/- 1.0 Deg.
L.H. Camber: -0.5, +/- 0.7 Deg.
R.H. Camber: -0.5, +/- 0.7 Deg.
L.H. Toe: -0.05, +/- 0.15
R.H. Toe: -0.05, +/- 0.15

Lightning Owner autocross preferred specs:
LH Camber -0.7
RH Camber -0.7
LH Toe OUT 0.05
RH Toe OUT 0.05

I checked my own and found the tow in was ok. The problem was in the camber. Just park on level concrete and take a 2 foot level. Check the concret at all 4 corners then check the bed of the truck side to side. If all is level or showing the same put it vertical across your front rim between the spokes on your front rims. Mine where a 1/4 bubble in on the top.

Next you will need the camber bolt kit from Ford dealer # F65Z-3B236-BB. They are easy to put in and will save you bucks doing it yourself. The factory used shims and the set up is for performance not tire wear.
I ended up leaving the rear upper castor shim stock and used the front upper to bring it into spec.
I also did the clunk washer but mine had not been moving according to the bolt and rust marks.

Anyhow, this may get the thread going and give you some things to think about.
