Noise At Start Up

Took L out of winter storage this week. Changed oil before starting it. At start up i'm getting a noise i never heard before coming from under the hood. Noise go's away after about 5 min. running. Noise does not sound like a engine noise. It sounds more like its coming from one of the pulleys. All my pulleys are stock and morning temp. hear in pittsburgh this week is about 40. Anyone else have this problem.

P.S. Dont have any pictures of new hood yet, because i had my ford dealer paint it and it about 3 shades to light. Looks more like sonic blue instead off true blue.

Hard to say. Before i put it away a had a problem with the s/c belt squealing. Replaced it with a new one from ford. Could the s/c pulley be going bad allready. Only had truck for 10 months and it been packed away for 6 of them.

I'm guessing it's one of your idler pulleys. Mine started to get really loud, so I took them off and repacked them. That only lasted for a few weeks. It got so bad to the point where I actually took of the S/C belt because the dealerships here didn't have them in stock. I got them from fordpartsonline about five days after I ordered them for about half what the dealership wanted. Quiet as a mime now.

Hey Shawn,

There a tons of threads dedicated to the "marbles in a can" sound that go away after about 5 mins or the truck warms up. So do it, some dont. Mine does. I took it to Ford to have it documented and they even call SVT about it and SVT said its normally. Its not the most pleasant thing to have to deal with but at least its documented if anything ever goes bad because of it.

Thanks for the help. Sorry it took so long to reply back. I've been fighting with ford to repaint my hood.I just dont understand, I gave them the hood and paint code. But they wanted to take a picture of the truck to match the paint. Now the hood is the wrong color. I think they took a picture with the flash on, because if you but a light to it , it matches.Take light away, truck turns dark, hood stays light. Sorry for venting.

Mine makes the marbles noise hot or cold--basically all the time. It has always been there. I noticed it got louder after the first oil change, so I assumed it was the "marbles in a can." But mine does it all the time. Sounds like diesel valve clatter. Any ideas? My local dealer is less than clueless about everything.
