Long term storage questions

I'll be going overseas for three years at the end of this year and am thinking about leaving my truck stateside. I could leave it with my father in S.C and have him drive it now and then, but I'm leaning towards just renting a storage unit and putting it in there. If I leave it in a storage unit, what are some considerations and advice, e.g, fluids, battery, tires, etc.? Same for if I leave it with my old man, how often should he start/drive it, maintenance etc? Thanks brothers!

stabilizers for fluids, put it on jackstands, remove the battery, etc. that's what i was advised for winter storage (never went thru with it) but i dunno what else must be done for 3 years (instead of my 3 month winter)

Thanks cyntaxx. I've decided to go ahead and store it. Anyone else have any input please? Thank you.

Hey Gene,

I would put it up on jack stands. Change all the coolant and trans fluid and engine oil. Fog the cylinders. I don't know any fuel stabilizer that would be good for 3 years ( I don't know how long they last), so maybe drain the fuel tank. Put those moisture bags inside and moth ***** around the outside. Obviously, a very good coat of zaino before hand.

That's all I can think of right now. Oh yeah, maybe spray some WD40 on the cast aluminum parts in the egine bay to prevent they from oxidizing and other metal parts from rusting.

i would say leave it OFF jack stands. I have stored my 1993 Cobra like this since 1996 with no issues. Fuel stabilizer, and clean fluids throughout make all the difference in the world.
