I am the person that mentioned a comparison of the LFP & FT VB's. First I want to say Mark and Gregg, BOTH, in my opinion are great guys. I have bought things from Mark that have gone beyond my expectations, and Gregg has always been there for many L owners. This started over an issue regarding possible duplication of procedures and changes made to these units. I can honestly say these are 2 different units. Without getting into a VERY LONG description.... The LFP unit is a LARGE improvement over the stock unit, it shifts nice and crisp and works pretty much as Mark says it will. I was a little concerned regarding some aluminum fillings we found inside the unit. (we took both completely apart) These were stuck on "red" assembly grease. Other than that the unit seemed fine. (I recommend a good cleaning to those who buy one, unless this was a one time thing) The FT unit was also a change over stock.. A LARGE CHANGE! this unit can as another owner once posted "give you whiplash" on the 1-2 shift when you jump on it. Its not as harsh as it sounds but a real "seat of the pants" shift. But you can also drive in traffic and hardly feel it at all. In summary the LFP unit is 2 steps over stock ,,then the FT unit is 3 steps over stock.I have both of these units at my shop right now.. correction 1 unit is in my Lightning.. The FT unit. This is in no way a shot at Marks VB it performs as as he stated, I just feel, from what I saw, Gregg does some things to his VB that no-one else at this point can and this affects and protects my tranny the way I want it to. I WILL use Marks VB in one of my customers L that wants the performance it supplies.
SORRY FOR THE LONG POST

That was biased as hell and you know it greg. also greg are you a supporting vendor if these forums??? i think not. if you wanna preach your item you should pony up the 1500 bux or so and become a supporting vendor.
Also after what i have driven all of the FT, LFP and the Line mod valve, i would go with LFP. The FT seemed too mushy while driving normal while the LFP gave a nice clean quick shift. Just my opinion.
edit, fixed mispellings

Yep, Gregg is the man. That's why we are the original distributor for Factory Tech parts, and we still sell and support them to this day. There have been issues that have arose such as VBs not hard enough, or even TOO hard. Every time, Gregg has sent the customer a revised unit per their taste, shipped directly to them, no questions asked. Also, Gregg is constantly testing new ideas, revisions, materials, and much more on both the VBs and Monster Boxes. His products continue to improve more and more. You don't get better than that IMO.

On a side note, when will the line lock kit be available? I keep hearing that you are waiting for the lines to get made or something, but that has been since like November or December.

Let me check, thursday night is bible study night when the father takes me to the rectory for some private tutorage
I guess I can make it to RJ's. It will be a new chance to make a first impression
Well if Chickenears says the quality is better it must be true! I've had them both in my truck, and the LFP is what I ended up with. Again, this is not rocket science...it doesn't take a degree from Harvard to make these things. And contrary to popular opinion, Gregg is not the only person on the planet that can build one.
Not a flame at all against you Gregg, I know you build good stuff.

We've been hearing about how brake lines are getting made for months now.

I really don't see how it was biased. A guy wanted a shift kit, he said he was gonna go with the cheaper part. I told him I'd give him one to test against it, he wouldn't take it for free, so he PAID for one, tested both and posted what he found. Mine's better, and really I know more about it than just about anyone else, in all modesty. When I first started building them I didn't take a shift kit and try to figure out how it worked, I knew how the transmission works to begin with, and figured out a novel way to control the shift better. I had problems with valves and I bought the equipment I needed to make my own so I wouldn't have any more problems. When someone has a problem I'm not sure what went wrong, I put it in my own truck, hook up some gauges I can about gaurentee very very few other people have to see what went wrong, and if I need to make any design changes. Over several years, I've gone from basically changing out a valve with one from a Taurus, to a completely redesigned valve body, all to make it better, and it is. And while I admit it doesn't "take a diploma from Harvard" to make one, ( a monkey can build one if you have one of mine and a list of suppliers) it does take a pretty competent technician to design, build and continuously improve one, and a fairly good machinist to make parts with a tolerance measured in .10/1000 of an inch. One of the things I have noticed from the 14 LFP valve bodies I've replaced (out of how many sold, compared to 12 of mine replaced out of just over 1500 sold) is there are 3 springs in the LFP valve body that serve no function whatsoever, they are parts that were in the stock accumulator up to 1996 and have been deleted as redundent, when the casting changed in 97, the function they performed was eleminated by a change in the wormtrail, they don't hurt anything, but it gave me some insight into the competence of whoever designed the part, someone is putting in parts that they don't even know what they do, and personally I wouldn't be buying parts from anyone who doesn't know what they're doing.
Does it take a genius to build them, no. Do you want something built by someone who doesn't know how it works, your call.

hurry and get in before the lock!

I dont have either but all i have to say is, ive seen gregg in the forums a couple times and i would say that even if his VB is the same or even slightly subpar to any other i would take it simply based on his amazing customer care. One guy had to take his tranny to ford and gregg said if they took the vb out when they swapped the tranny he would send him a new one. How many companies or even individuals would do this? Its ridiculous and unresonable to me but hey thats how he runs his business. That gets a
and a
from me.
As if those count for anything but . .. hey its all i can offer

Got my FTVB from Sal and would do it all over again if I had to. Gregg is the man IMO. I am gonna need a Monster Box to go with my built long block and Works 112. Anyone know where I can get one of those??
