need proof that a lightning will do 140mph...

i know a guy that is a total know it all & he says that a lightning won't go 140+... i'm not going to take him on the road to show him, so i was wondering if there are any videos and pics out there to prove it to him?

Check over at www.svtlightnings.com I know Doug has Nathan's 140 flyby. I think he also made a few videos of him self.

That video that J15Big made that was like 11min long has a clip of a L gettin up to 140. If you cant find it I'll see if I can take the clip out of the rest of it and put it up somewhere.

I can assure you that pic you posted is not photoshopped, don't ask me how I know . If it helps, you can show him the video of my truck running 132mph......in a 1/4 mile

Prolly a dumb question but when you guys go for top end 140+ does it matter wether the overdrive is on or off?

I have gone to only 110 in overdrive and it feels like it is straining the tranny. Someday I may just grow a mullet and go for the gold. Next set of new tires maybe

Whatcha need to do is....

Take your bed cover off and take the bed rug out....then wax the inside of the bed so it is superslick. Put that non-believer in the bed and do 140+mph blast....but you have to take off just before he sits down ....when you hit the magic number brake hard and when you come to a complete stop ask him if he wants to see it again .....he probably won't want that ....and make him wash the doo-doo out of the bed of your truck.

While we're on the topic of top speed in an L...

Sal
have you tested what your L will do? Since you still have the 3.55 gearing it should be a pretty big number. I know you posted awhile back, but I'm sure you've done quite a bit since then. Not askin u to go speedin or nothin, a guesstimate will do

Who cares what he thinks. Why is it so important to prove him wrong? You know what the truth is and I would let him keep believing what he wants. He'll only be a bigger fool when the truth comes out.

It reminds me of a story back in high school days, where a casual friend from a rival high school thought his car was bad *** with his small block Chevy. I kept telling him that I would run him if he wanted to, but make it worth my while. He never had the guts, even though he thought I had a small block Ford under the hood. I never said what I had, nor did I ever let him see. After about 6 months of this, I finally got tired of it, and opened the hood. He said "just what I thought, you have a 351 in there". Little to his surprise it was a big block Ford spitting out about 425 hp starring at him. Let him think what he wants. When and if the time happens, he will become a believer. To many people worry about what other people think. Myself, I like to play the underdog.

110 in OD and it felt like it was straining ???
Whassup with that ??

I've done @ 130 MPH in 3rd gear
YES WITH THE OD OFF
Motor was screaming @ 5700/5800 RPM before I realized it
I've also done 140 "a few times" w/ OD ON

Like everyone say's, who cares if they believe,
Give him a Lightning Flyer from a Dealer,
it shows Top Speed 142 MPH right there in B+W,
I'm sitting here reading it right now....

All you had to do was ask, since I have about 200 Lightning videos
