Is There A Preventative Fix For The Cracking Doors?

My warranty is up in about 2 months and as of right now my doors have no cracks in them but I am worried that in time they will. Does anyone know if Ford has a fix so that my doors won't crack? If so does anyone have the TSB #?

Buy a Chevy or a Dodge?????

But seriously folks, almost every F150 from '97 thru 2000 has these door cracks...just above the radius of the lower rear side-window curve...where the black gasket goes from wide to narrower. Theories abound as to the cause, but when you raise the elec. windows, watch the door panel bulge when the window "tops out." Fatigue gets 'em eventually.

I think Ford implemented some internal door brace in 2001, but I could be wrong about the year. Do a search and you can spend your day reading on this subject.

If you get a responsive dealer who has a clue about the whole issue, then they can remove your door skin and weld in a reinforcing brace, then they can fix the existing crack in the body shop.

I wonder if Ford will fix this problem if it happens to my L after my warranty has expired since this is a known problem?

SpankDog,
Theres a pic on this thread.... I had the door crack issue and had the drivers door fixed and a preventative kit in the pass door. The TSB # is also listed in the last post I made on that thread also.
Hope this helps maybe
