What year is your Lightning?. 99 and 00 had a leaky intercooler recall.

I would call the dealer and ask.

Maybe someone who know where the pet**** is drained your truck as a prank?

Check the intercooler for leaks like he said.

too late

the recall program is over. If you truck was bought new, you should have been notified. If you just got it used, it's gonna cost you. I think it ended last october or something. Give the dealer your vin and they can tell you if it was done. Good luck

Guys - I know that the recall is over, and I already had the fix done to mine, BUT I was just wondering, shouldnt the intercooler fix be covered under warranty ? The ESP warranty I have covers gaskets etc... Just wondering if that is an option for some of the new guys here buying older trucks..

This was an Owner Notification Program from Ford to fix chronic intercooler leaks on 99 and 00 L's. The program number is "O1B81 - Intercooler" and the kit is part number SPO XL3Z 9424 A8 (titled "Kit, Intake Manifold) which consists of a replacement 10 row intercooler and an new upper intake manifold. This program expired in September of 02 so unless it is still coverd under the standard 3/36 warranty, there is not going to be any help from Ford. It's about $850.00 for the kit without labor.

Hope it helps.

you might be lucky it being a 00. It might still have warranty on it.
