You ALL want to see this, Main Bearing Bolts Backing out "BY THEMSELVES"
Quoted by CajunCobra
Truck: 2002 Harley-Davidson
This engine was asembled incorrectly at the factory. 2 main bolts fell out and a third was unscrewed about 1 inch. Properly torqued and stretched main bolts do not fall out. Ford had written this failure off as a "Chip caused Faiulure" without even looking at the engine. After threatening to sue, Ford Rep decided he should look into the engine and prove that the chip caused the failure, What a surprise to find the main bolts in the bottom of the oil pan. This truck has been in the shop since Dec. 14, 2002, sitting there without Ford even looking at the engine. I have stated all along that a chip cannot cause an engine to break a rod. Ford would have written this off and gone their merry way, had I not made enough waves to force them to look at the engine. I thank Anthony Gray, of Gray Ford in DeRidder, La, without his help, Ford would never have looked into this engine without a law suit..
DT
This is where a main bolt should reside, or maybe it did, at one time.

These 2 main bolts found in the oil pan show excellent threads, no metal in the threads, why is that significant, it shows that the bolts backed out, not stripped.

This shows a thrid main bolt backing out.

Rob,
FORD HAS NO QUALITY CONTROL AT ALL
C'mon Rob, even you can't believe a statement like that. What company do you work for? Is all of the company's work perfect and without flaws? I don't think so. Ford has their share of problems, but they are no worse than many other companies out there. Ford makes a good product for it's price.
As far as the Cobra guy, that sucks, and I'm glad it worked out for him. The bottom line, whether it be Ford, Whirlpool, Pioneer Electronics etc., we need to be educated on our products and know what to do to get warranty coverage on things we purchase.

Theres a member of my club with a 2002 L. His engine lasted exactly 2000 milles.
He vented his block going from a 4# to a 6#...
Guess what? His rod bolts were backing out.. 2 were already in the pan. Dont know if Ford is covering it.
This happened in January. What was the build date of the guys harley up above Rob?

Your right MaxTorque02,
It's not fair for me to say that,
Can I get a do-over
I'll Edit it
But they way I see it is like this.
Tons spit Plugs
Tons have the leaking Head Gasket
Lots Throw Rods
With these 3 serious ""KNOWN AND PLENTYFUL" Failures
The least Ford can do is admit a problem and fix it
EVEN WITH MOD'S
Unless they can truly blame it on the Mod's
Main Bearing Bolts falling out "MODDED OR NOT"
is not from too much boost
Just in this post alone, we're find two 02 HD's with Main Bearing Bolts in the oil Pan. Come on, there is no excuse for that.
Whats even worse is that it means once again another year with Motor problems. That may come down to something as simple as them using the wrong bolts or not making them tight enough
