Finally, my Dyno charts arrived showing with/without the Plasma Booster
Finally, my Dyno charts arrived showing with/without the Plasma Booster
The graphs finally arrived today. No one was as exasperated or embarrassed as I was when I couldn't produce dyno charts for my 01/20/03 dyno pulls. Several of you wanted to see 'proof' of whether the PB made a difference.
Here is the first pull done a half hour after driving 2 hours to the shop with the PB connected:

Here is the second pull done about 1/2 hour after the first pull. This was done with the PB ground wire disconnected to eliminate the PB from the ignition.
https://www.f150online.com/galleries...4444&anum=3723
I did the math. The second pull shows a loss of 4.7 RWHP and a loss of 20.1 RWTQ. Another way to express this is to say on that day, the Plasma Booster added 4.7 RWHP and 20.1 RWTQ.
The pulls were done on my original F1s that had 43,000 miles on them. I think 'they' left some power/torque as they spun a little on the drum.

If the wheels spun on the drum, those dyno runs are in no way an accurate measure of the before and after.

Standard Deviation?
in every dyno I've done, my first pull is 10-15% stronger than all subsequent pulls. Looks like the HP numbers are well within that margin of error and the TQ numbers are just slightly outside. So is this really a gain by the PB or is it within acceptable error for the dyno?

Hmm... your Air/Fuel is dangerously lean when you make peak HP with the plasma booster (vs nice and flat without)
So does the PB cause the lean condition and give you power? or did something else do it?
Running leaner WILL result in more power. unless your engine blows up.

Just wondering why they work with the Cobras and is a waste of $$$ on our Lightnings?

The 4.6 cobras, at least the 96-98 which have 2 banks X 4 coil packs, which are kind of weak and the PB shows power with these. Although SVT did switch to COP with 99 and 01 Cobras, they still show gains with the PB.
Ive seen an 03 cobra with a PB make 0 power. Also a hand full of Lightnings. Maybe when you begin to run larger injectors and a more radical fuel system and a larger power adder, the PB will show gains. However, with the avg power levels people have obtained with the L, its not worthwild mod, at least not for the $$.
I would like to see a dyno with the Direct Hits ignition though.

Our coil packs give the plugs a lot of power. You also have to remember our PCM's are programmed for it.

The only change to JJ's truck was the PB when he went from 12.01 to 11.89...
That seems like a mod that works to me. I mean the 11.89 was on a much warmer day than his 12.01.
And as you've stated has made improvements on many Cobra's.
