bad idea

Just get a chip.

The venom part just adjusts the inputs to the stock computer. Not really safe and a really bad idea if you have anything done to your truck.

I installed a Venom 400 in a 2001 Dodge Ram. It actually worked well in conjuction with a chip. The problem is that it basically increases throttle response, which leads to many gas station visits. My Ram had a 5.2 V8 (318) so it needed all of the help it could get in terms of performance, and the Venom did help, but in an L, I would recommend putting your money into other areas of tuning, such as a chip, pully, intake/filter, etc. In fact, a larger throttle body would probably produce the same if not better result, and is probably safer too. My advice ... stay away from the Venom ... the only cool thing about it is it only works when you press the throttle about 1/2-3/4 to the floor, and an LED light shows you when it is working. You can expect at least 1-3mpg less with one as well.
