? about Metco drivehsaft loop

I bought one of these from someone second hand but unused. It came with no instructions. I took it to get installed and the guy said it would be like 2 hours to do because he would have to pull up carpet and take the seats out in order to drill bolds in. Eh?? Pull the seats out? Is all that necessary? They installed my Cal-tracs and did a great job, but that seems extreme to me.

I removed my passenger side seat and it only took me 5 minutes with an air ratchet. Removed the drive shaft 2 minutes with the air gun. Measure and drill holes in the truck 30 minutes. Bolt the loop on 10 minutes. Reinstall driveshaft to proper torque 5 minutes. Reinstall seat 5 minutes.

Times are approximate and I did it myself with no lift. So, I would guess that 2 hours wouldn't be out of the question. Those mechanics have to make money to pay for all the breaks they take.

I installed mine in 30 minutes and didn' t remove any seats.

Mark the holes and have someone inside the truck with the seats moved all the way forward. When the drill bit penetrates the metal and pushes up on the carpet, have the person inside to slit the carpet with a razor knife, slip the bolts through and install the washers and nuts. A little silicone sealer will seal out any water or exhaust fumes. Piece of cake!
