All my freon leaked out AGAIN

Is this happening to anyone else? My 2001 lost all the refrigerent when spring 2002 rolled around. The dealer filled it but found no sign of leaks. Now, spring 2003, no refrigerent again. I assume something must be expanding during the winter months I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I just want to be armed with some knowledge. I thought maybe the same thing happened to someone else. I'm worried about when the warranty runs out next year. I don't want to have to pay to have the stuff refilled every spring.
Thanks.

You are talking about the air conditioner, right? It(a/c) needs to be run every once in a while to 'oil' the internal seals.

From: Colorado,
Only use the dye as a last resort. It makes a incredible mess.

Most of the time you can see signs of oil at conections. Trace out oll the lines from the pump. Make sure nothing is rubbing on the frame or other area's.

The condenser is on the outside by the radiator. It is the high pressure side and more likely to have the leaks.

The cold side is on the inside where you get the cold air from it is the evaporator. It is the low presure side and not usually much of a problem.

I know my Chevy p/u ac compressor kicks on in defrost mode and 1 or 2 other heat selections so I'm sure the L does the same to keep the compressor in good shape.

my 1999 a/c did not work right after i bought it from dealer. found the a/c commpressor leaked out the front seal. they found it because there is dye in the refrigerant from the factory. it had 3600 miles on it. they replaced whole compressor.
