to Cat. or not to Cat.???

Does anybody know if there are any benefits to removing the cats on the L's? I know they have 4 O2 sensors so if a dummy O2 sensor was used for the after cat sensors would this reep any benefit? Has anybody removed their cats? Thanx everyone!

people have done this a while ago, but i do remember them complaining that it's far too loud. now that i don't have to pass emmissions, i am yanking mine off... it will sound good.

I installed high flow cats and it sounds great. I am thinking about removing mine due to the leaded race gas. The problem is I will probably be due for emissions soon. You can just have your tuner turn off the ses light for you in the chip.

Why not just run a set of hi-flows.

I just gutted my high flow cats. Since I wanted to atleast have the appearance of using cats and am going to use some leaded race fuel. I also wanted a louder truck than what the Silver bullet and long tubes gave me. I hope it will help and not hurt performance. I'm not sure if it will hurt or not. I've always been told it will hurt performance...

JL said he could just turn off the rear O2 sensors with a chip. I'm not even going to have the rear sensors connected.

i occasionally run no cats and straight pipes. no loss of torque that i noticed. it did seem a little faster too, but havent had a chance to test it fully at the track. its hella loud too

The next thing on my list is to put on the carsound high flows . I have the Borla catback which is pretty quiet compaired to others . Hopefully the high Flow waken it up a little. A couple H.P would be nice too.

I took mines off, 2 cats on each pipe is alot of restriction. The motor revs better, I felt a better top end. With the stock exhaust its not that loud, im planning on using long tubes with the stock muffler so it wont be that loud. I use race fuel and thats bad for cats. JL burned my chip for that no problems.

cool, hey thanx guys for the info, actually I've allready removed 2 out of the 4 (removed the big ones) and relocated the O2's behind the smaller 2 cats I wasn't sure if I'd get a check engine light, I'm going to have the other two removed this weekend. It did feel like it had some more top end but the torque doesn't feel quite as much as it did before. This could be because of the sound now tho, sounds like it's running like a raped ape through the exhaust and is well.....running like a raped ape. Just couldn't really tell by the seat of the pants if there was any gains or not. Sounds really wicked tho with 3 1/2 inch tips and 2 chamber flows. Thanx for everyone's input. Oh ya and who's this JL chip that your talking about, I haven't had my L too long, always had a mustang until I got the L so I'm kinda new to L performance parts.

I'v been considering buying a Silver bullet for some time now and I think I'm buying a setup tomorrow. I don't know if i want the cats in there or not but instead get two custom bent midpipes. So my my question would be would this be to loud and would it void my warrenty? Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks
Adam
