Tranny Question...wtf?

Well i believe that this has been happening since i bought the L way back in august 01, and ive never really thought to ask about it until now...
This is quite hard to explain, but ill give it a shot....

Basically, if im cruising around and the L is in 4th (OD) and I floor it so it DOES NOT shift down, while it climbs in mph and rpm, there seems to be a point where the L almost "hesitates" for a split second, almost like it hits like a "bump" in the rpms and then keeps going... When this happens i can feel the truck literally sort of "rock back and forth" when it does this....it only happens for a split second though.. If I listen to the blower whine as I floor it, I can hear it sound almost like it looses boost or something in that split second that it hesitates....basically you hear the consistent whine of the blower, then it it quiets down for that split second, and then climbs the revs normally again...
Im not really sure how to better explain this, hopefully you guys may have some sort of idea of what im talking about?? Basically my question is-
What the heck is this? And what do I need to do to fix it?
Thanks for your help guys...

Sounds like it might be the torque converter locking, however I usually notice it in 2nd gear and rarely (if ever) floor it from overdrive.

From: Colorado,
What kind of numbers are you seeing on the tach when you do this? Sounds like the torque converter lockup.

I can't cruise in fourth and floor it without it downshifting.

Boost dump? Is your boost dump solenoid disconnected to prevent this from occurring?

mine does this, it seemed to start, or i just noticed to more, when the convertor was swapped for an aftermarket.

two things i noticed

it does not do this when i just get into the gas enough for it to come out of o\d then punch it..

and also then i first did my plug change it didnt do it at all for another,,,,,apporx. 3000 miles....

moral of the post, i have been living with it ..

i tried posting this when it started, and tried a chip tune to change it, and no go....

That is odd how if you floor it, it doesn't shift down.

Like LIGHTNIN ROD said, I think it is the boost dump. Mine was doing minus the back and fourth jerk, that I can' t explain. Is your truck chipped? or have a airflow Mod?.

ok if this is normal then thats good...
The truck usually DOES shift down, just the rare time that it doesnt i can feel that little "hesitation" or whatever you wish to call it.
Any other opinions on this?

The reason I said to talk to Greg was that he told me my transmission was toasted in 4th gear there was a snap ring that came off and would not let my tranny down shift from 4th right. He can give you all the tech info shoot him an e-mail
hope this helps. By the way I ranked # 5 for the top fryed trannys that Greg has ever seen!!!!!

Peace, Suavy
