need advise on diagnosing problem

I've had what sounds like an exhaust leak coming from the driver's side of my truck for almost a year now and no one (dealership included) has been able to diagnose this problem. It doesn't happen at idle but under normal throttle (20-40 mph). Could it be a loose plug? How can it be that way this long without blowing? I hate to admit, I nor the dealership has checked them. Any advise is appreciated.

Hey I just noticed you live in Irving, I live right off 183. Well as far as a loose bolt or gasket, I checked all that when I put my LT's and highflow cats. The truck was already making this noise before I changed anything. Originally I was told it might be a cracked header (had Bassani shorties). Well even after changing to LT's it's still there and the gaskets were all ok. By any chance do you think Westway would check the plugs for me under warranty?

There is a guy in DFW that posts here some that might be able to help you narrow down the issue. His handle is L8Apex.

You can contact him here

What youre probably hearing is the exhaust pulses in the tube that crosses under you. I had a friend with a 2001 with this same "noise" and I thought it was an exhaust leak too. But as soon as I jumped in my old 2000 I could replicate the same noise. So I highly doubted both of us could have this same leak. Since you can only hear this "noise" with the radio off I told him to turn on his radio.

i live over by oconner, not a whole lot of L's trolling this area. do you ever go by the talon meetings? what color is your truck?

Westway in short Sucks A$$. i try never to go there again (they screwed me the 1st time) its not really that hard to check your own plugs if you have some time and swivels. let me know if you need some help and ill swing by and see if i can help

Did you check the riser tube that leads up to the egr valve. If its loose, or has a hole in the tube. It sounds like an exhust leak. Hope this might help. Artie
