Installed Valve Body

I installed my first mod today. Not the trucks first mod, but the first that I installed. Man,some of you guys don't realize how hard it is to start taking bolts out of a $30,000 truck when your not a mechanic and don't really know what your doing. Anyway, I got the old one out and the new one in ok. I'm having trouble getting a good reading off this dipstick I'm up to 8 qts. Where should I be full at with that new 4x4 pan. That magnet that I took out of the old pan and switched to the new had about an inch of like mud on it is that normal.

what year is the truck

8 quarts? did you drain the converter? I drained the pan and not the converter and 7 quarts filled it up good with the FTVB and 4x4 pan. I dunno you really don't wanna overfill the tranny. I pretty sure it is only supposed totake 7 quarts if you didn't drain the converter.....I've been wrong before.

just did my 03 and it took 8 qts. that mud is powdered metal. how many miles do you have. it's normal to have some with age, as long as it's real fine and no large shavings or chips

I think I've read with a converter flush you're talking about 14 qts...?

Ya, 13-13.5 go back in with a converter flush. The mud is indeed metal, but Gregg said that most of that is from the first 1000 miles. So if this is your first change, you're fine. At least if you overfill now, it is cake to drain some out with the deep pan. Rock on with that VB. You'll love it.
