Not overly Impressed with the Juice
Not overly Impressed with the Juice
Just did (3) 0-100 Blast with the Juice
on a nice upper 60 temp afternoon.
Don't get me wrong, it's flying, and the tach is moving real fast
"BUT" I honestly expected more. I guess the ET will tell more.
I don't know if the first fill is good ? When I disconnected the tank just now it took quite some time for it to bleed out and I was touching the gas with my fingers and it wasn't icing up the way my old tank use to ??? Plus the pressure didn't seem too high.
I know I'm gonna need a Purge kit to get this working right, I guess it's time to check into one.
BTW I got my first internal burp
I guess after I juiced it and then shut the switch there must have been raw gas in there, because next time I got into it,
I heard a Blu Blu form inside the Manifold.
Actually that was last night, I juiced it then too.
Yes I disconnected the tank and took it out of the L,
IT'S JUST TOO DAM TEMPTING

In my past experience with the juice on a naturally aspirated motor, a 50-75 horse shot is basically like cooling the incoming air charge and I could barely feel it. a 200 or 250 horse shot and I had to hold on. I don't know about how it is on the L though.
I have driven a 75 shot w/ 4# lower on a customer's 99. It kicks in hard and barks the slicks @90 mph going into 3rd down the track
He tried running it on the street the truck was in first gear and he did two 360's before the truck came to a stop. It helped his ET 5mph and 5-7 tenths. It would do more but he can't launch on the bottle due to traction even on slicks.

AHHHH Nitrous...
Hey-
I have a 175 shot now...but used to run a 100 shot.
A 100 shot, progressive or not, should be pretty ********ing insane
It's amazing how many guys cannot fill a bottle. Be sure pressure is at 900 when filled, get a bottle gauge if you don't already have one.
A heater will help as a 100 shot flows quick....the n2o needs to be warmed or it won't be as effective. You know how a propane tank ices when its on long? same thing here.
Also, make sure the pick up tube is located correctly, the kit should have instructions on this.
A purge is just f'in cool as s**t. even if it did nothing, it'd be worth it.
I bet your fill sucked. Remember too, it will empty in about 15-20 sec full throttle
Gotta love the spray!

Rob I felt the same way when I first installed my nitrous kit. I really couldn't tell if my 75hp shot was even working or not. However after adding a bottle heater that all changed. Now there is no mistaking the 75hp shot. In order for any nitrous kit to peform properly you must have a heater. Your bottle pressure should be in between 950-1050psi. The bottle will reach this pressure at about 90 degrees. If it's 60 degrees like when you ran your nitrous I doubt that your bottle pressure was even at 600psi. So your 75hp shot was more like 35hp shot.
In short you need a bottle heater Rob!!!!!

yep he's right... pressure is irrelevant - weight is what matters when filling, pressure is what counts when flowing, the system is calibrated to flow a certain amount of nitrous at a certain pressure. Generally about 900-1000 psi. My 75 shot on my 5.0 dropped me over a second. But the faster you are the harder it is get it all to the ground. I filled my own bottles in my garage by putting the 10lb bottle in the freezer for an hour then hooking it up to the large bottle I had (~70lbs). The nitrous should last you 3-4 runs down the track. The emptier the bottle gets the faster the pressure will drop because it will cool faster. Nitrous is awesome though, just switched to the supercharger for something different and I don't have to fill it.
The pressure is relavent! These systems are designed to work at around 1000psi. So if there is not enough pressure, you wont get the full kick. BUT! Inversely, if there is too much pressure, you may lean out if your tune is on the hiary edge and also run the risk of sticking a solinoid. Nitrous is like CO2, in the fact that when it compresses, it becomes a liquid which you can measure by weight. You can still safely fill 10Lbs bottles up too 13Lbs as long as your watching the temperature (pressure).
I believe it is NX who makes a nice pressure activeated heater that will keep the pressure around 950 to 1050psi. Autometer also makes a nice guage in which you can put in the pillar and be able to see how much pressure is in the system while your in the truck.

Great answers everyone,
You guys are great
Like I've said before, I had a 150 shot on my last BB Chevelle and man oh man you knew it was juice when you hit it. I'm not getting that feeling, maybe I'm expecting too much.
Hank your right, plus the tank was out in the truck all night and it got cold of course. And no heater Mo Fo, I do need one, I called Dave, he suppose to have one for me, but I think I'll scoot over to the Zex Site and look at some goodies.
Like I say, you can feel the differance, just not what I hoped for.
A few tenths here and there is all I hope to need though ?
Things to do before Cecil List
Put in the 75 HP Nitrous Jets
Put in a Bottle Warmer
Maybe a Purge Kit
Get bottle filled again (another $50.00 down the tubes)
Look into a guage,
Maybe Order a set of bigger Jets
/I have 55,65,+75HP
Things Maybe to think about
Switch back to my 2.8 Upper and add 2 Lbs of boost
Run the 4lb lower "and" the 2lb upper while juicing
Run it on my All Gas program (a little more timing)
As you can see we got options
We'll get this Baby Rolling ONE WAY OR ANOTHER
PS
I don't know how long a 10lb tank last, but if it's only 15-20 seconds like your saying teamSLS, then I'm
LOOOOOOOOOONG EMPTY.
The first night when I juiced it 3 times it was more seat in the pants, (unfortunatly it was also 20 degrees out) so I probably wasted all the good stuff by now

$50.00 for a 10lb fill?? holy hoochimomma, or something.
i had real good luck with a 50lb (contents) 130lb gross, liquid withdrawall cylinder, mounted over the passenger rear. it gave me a huge supply and the weight really helped with the wheelspin.

I fill my own bottles also. It's much cheaper that way. I have a pump though.
