Talking Got my new head gasket (finally)!

Well I finally got my L back last Friday! Warner Robins Ford had it since Monday replacing my driver's side head gasket. Overall I am happy with their work. The truck runs great and seems to idle smoother although I don't know why? I also have new coolant in the radiator and intercooler (time for more water wetter) and an overfill of Motorcraft 5W-30 oil (drained some oil out this morning). Also noticed that the mechanic broke one of the tabs off the bottom of the airbox, but a little super glue seems to be doing the trick. Total on the service ticket was $1000 ($190 parts) but of course it was all covered by warranty.
Anyway, IT'S GOOD TO HAVE IT BACK!!!!

Good for you Sammy! Your smoother idle may be because the new head gasket eliminated a vacuum leak???

What happened to your L Sammy? What made you realize you had a blown head gasket?

Looks like I going to add a 03 Cobra to the collection when I get back from the desert.

That is very possible. It was never really rough, but while idling in park it had a little "bump" to it. I just figured it was normal and really didn't worry about it, but it is definately smoother now.

Todd: I began noticing a burning oil smell after shutting the truck down. I then discovered a very slow oil leak around the cam cover bolt next to the dipstick. It was not leaving oil on the floor, but leaking just enough to run down on the exhaust manifold and burn. I took it in and they said told me it was the head gasket. I requested a "second opinion" and two other mechanics said the same thing. Anyway it took the 2 visits (they had to order parts) and 4 LONG days to get it corrected.

My 4# pulley has been sitting in my garage now for almost a month. But now that this issue has been addressed, it's time to install it!

What color Cobra to you plan on getting? And do you plan to keep it stock and civil for the wife or are you going to create a monster?
