o.d. on/off

I run 4.10 gears and 28x10x16 Hoosier slicks, truck shifts into o.d. at aprox. 1000' mark. Can I turn o.d. off and make full pass without overreving? I go thru now at about 4200 rpm.

I use 26" tires which figures out to a 4.08 and I have no problem keeping it off
