I've seen so many of these threads where people are trading in their Ls for a new Harley that I decided to take a long lunch and go out and test drive one of the Harleys to see what all of the fuss is about. The Harley I drove was a '03 model and was the silver and black (I believe). The lady said that only 1-100 of the Harleys had that color combination. Well....anyways... drove it around town for about 20 minutes. Good power and the exhaust does sound better than a stock L. Interior of an L is no match for that of the Harley. Asking price for the Harley was 35,999. I'm not sure if that is good or not but I believe it is below sticker. Saleslady was really sharp looking as well (score points here).

After all of that I have come to this conclusion. I love my L and am gonna keep her. Even with all of the stuff that the Harley has I just think the Lightning is a much better looking truck case closed. Of course this is only my opinion but I still can't get used to a crew cab truck looking good. I think they all look like a DOH truck lol..... Just my opnion again.

I agree. I think the HD is a cool looking truck but is simply in a different category than the Lightning in looks and go. To all their own. I'll keep my "L".

 

The Harley isn't really a "sport truck" imo, it just has the lightning engine.

If i had a family i would get one instead of a minivan or SUV, but i wouldn't trade in my L for one...

Lightning - can't stand the two tone paint on the Harley's.
Harley's are also becoming too much of a fad... and they are way too flashy.
The Lightning has a nice clean look to it.

 

Yep. To each his own. I agree that the Harley just doesn't look that sporty. I have 3 kids and still have the Lightning. When I bought it my wife asked me where would the kids sit and I told her that's why we have a minivan.... <snicker>

I can understand how some people just can’t handle the “pimp” appeal of the HD, but that is why Ford offers the Lightning.

Don't get me wrong here. The Harley is a REALLY nice truck. I just don't think its me right now.



BTW... the chick that was showing me the Harley was cute as the ****ens and it was her FIRST day....... I got two boners test driving that truck. One from looking at her and one from pushing the pedal.

BTW.... was the offer price on the HD reasonable or can you get 'em cheaper? Anybody?

 

In December, a buddy called, Said he was going to buy a Harley Sportster. Tried to talk me into getting one too. I thought he was kidding. I told him if he bought a sportster I would buy a Harley truck. Crap, he bought the Sportster. I did not buy the Harley truck, but did buy an 03 Lightning. It was the right choice for me!!

 

DOH ... More money for a slower truck ... No options ...
They will be all gone next year anyhow ... Maybe IF

why go harly? you get less speed? m ore weight? and more price?

GO with lightning t's faster and gets 2x the looks and will beat anyone. you'll get 2 x the ***** to
