MAC install times & tips

I plan on installing my Mac catback this weekend. I was wondering for those of you who have done it, how long did it take? Also any tips you could reccomend would be great.

Thanks
Paul

i did mine a couple of weeks ago,it took longer to get the old exhaust off then it did to put the mac on,only advise i can give is to maybe have an extra jack or set of hands because it is a bear to try to slide the mac on with out either of these

More than half of my install time was removing the stock stuff. You might find that the U-clamps used to bolt on the stock mufflers were wrenched on so hard, that they piched the pipe to a point where there's a valley that you'll have to work the stock pipe over to get it off. I heard of one person who tied the muffler off to something stable and used the truck to pull the stock mufflers off. I'd be concerned about the stress that puts on the remaining part of the exhaust system, myself. Once you get the stock stuff off, put the mufflers on, then the tips. Don't tighten any of the U-clamps down real tight until you align everything the way you want it. It might help to have someone put their hands around the tips in the cut-out to make sure they stay even in the hole while you tighten the clamps down.

You'll love the look/sound when finished.

Also, there's a couple schools of thought on how much the tips should protrude from the cut-out. Some people make sure they're out far enough that they won't put condensation down in front of the wheel (for traction). I think they look good out a bit instead of tucked way up inside - gotta show off that chrome!

Pick which way you'll like it.

Are you doing it this weekend? Let us know how it comes out!

I don't envy you doing it alone, though. An extra pair of hands would be a tremendous help!!

Tip of the day: Pay $60 to have a muffler shop install the catback.

I will second that! It cost me around $63.00 at my local shop and I think it was well spent money!

Well guys I took your advice and went to the local Midas(ya I know, believe me I stood right there and watched him the whole time). It cost me $47 and I can say that was money well spent!! This system sounds mean as hell. Thanks to everyone who said this system was worth the $ You can now add me to the list of Happy Mac owners.
