pointless as our intercoolers are air to water

cold is cold. if you super cool the intercooler it would cool down the exchange medium and cool your charge. of course since liquid co2 is cold enough to freeze the coolant in your intercooler, cold enough to make the metal and hoses brittle, it could be a little risky.

Depending on how and where they spray the C02 I think it would work very well. I know a couple of guys that use C 02 on some sand drag cars {air cooled VW style Huge horsepower stuff} and it works pretty good. The 04 L concept is doing the same thing with AC refrigerent and claim a pretty good increase in power.

well it would take too long to cool the medium enough and then pump it back up through the intercooler to make a solid difference. it probably would work after a while but youd be spraying a whole lot. kinda like sticking a glass of water in the freezer, it doesnt get instantly cold. it would work much bettter on air to air, as air can get cold faster

I think **** was responding to Cpeapea's less than enthusastic opinion.

Personally, I think it is worth a try, and if you are a paintballer you've already got the CO2 tank and low cost CO2 supplier!!!

Anyone here try one? At last weekends Ford Drag Weekend in LA, we discussed the merits of this and at least one guy said they were planning on trying it.

You are probably better off using ice or dry ice in a large IC tank.

Don't get that CO2 anywhere near the air intake.

C02 is a dirty gas I know this from my paintball days it gives off a blackish soot. Thats why all the big time paintballers use a nitrogen setup because its clean gas. Dont know what dirty gas would do to the engine but it is a pain in the but to clean out of a paintball gun.

The reason i made that comment is because at the PRI show there was a kit designed for our trucks. The kit contained a fuel block which chilled the incoming fuel to the injectors. It then made its way into another block which was inline with the maf. It would cool the incoming air into the blower without dumping c02 in there. It then made its way into a ring that fit out intercoolers to spec and exhausted the charge from multiple nozzles across the core.

The kit should work pretty well and im in the works of getting one and testing it out.

c02 unlike n20, lasts a long time while spraying. Im sure a 1/4 mile run with the setup activated during the burnout, pre-stage to staging then blasting down the 1320 would make a significant difference.

I have the NX kit on my truck...works good, no problems with icing the fluid.

I use mine to cool the fluid with the engine off, using a switch in line to the pump.

I also have twin (600cfm total) fans to draw the n2o through the heat exchanger...these are also used with the engine off.

The concept is sound for this application.

I do agree that there's not much point spraying while in motion. You would burn through gas...be it co2 or n2o. The kit comes with a 6lb bottle...it's gone in about 15 sec...I am going to try my 15 pounder and see if the added duration has any ill effects, or positive ones for that matter.

God bless nitrous

Why are you wasting n20? Goto c02, much cheaper and just as cold. Try the 6# bottle with c02.
