L vs 70 Camaro results

This is a $35,000-$40,000 camaro. 5-6k is in the engine. It needs a tune. But it's a 383 with forged crank, h beam rods, forged pistons, heads, long tubes, intake, cam, etc. This guy was always talking ***** about racing and how fast his ride was, and how I owned a Ford. I always said bring it and we will find out. Again Sunday he was wondering how fast his ride was. So... I told him let's go, low and behold he braught it. Suffice it to say he has REAL respect for the Lightnings now, after seeing tail lights dissapear. He said he had no clue. Great guy now. hehehehehehe

After seeing what what the 80s and 90s brought us for performance vehicles ,I can understand the ignorance of ol timers with their 60s/70s muscle cars thinking they will always rule the newer performance vehicles.TIMES have changed and technology HAS FINALLY CAUGHT UP!! About time............

Good kill but don't go around thinking muscle cars are push overs. All my friends and I have cars from the muscle car era and late model sports cars. I can tell you when it's time to race everyone brings the muscle cars. It's just hard to beat a 500 cubic inch motor with nitrous, turbo, or a blower in a 3000 lb car. Of course not all older cars are setup like that, just saying be careful if you are racing for money .

Here's a pic of a 70 Camaro at our local track. He apparently has launching problems us Lighning owners don't have to worry about...

FYI .... a few years ago HOTROD magazine did an article on building a '70 something nova to get it into the 10's in the 1/4. They did it for $10,000, that included the price of the car. It's all a matter of how you spend you money on your car ...

Still though ... nice kill

Thanks guys. It felt great.

I think that one of the reasons that he was so surprised is that I don't brag about my truck enough. It's not the fastest vehicle in the world and going to the drags I know that. But for a streetable daily driver, it is very quick.
