is my rear end just breaking in? new diff question

wanted to get some feedback, just picked up my ranger (8.8 rear end) and had a buddy hook me up with his mustang differential and put in some 3.90's.

b4 he gave it back, he said he may not have packed the clutches tight enough and that it may not posi under power breaking, more likely when it heats up

he said drive it for a few days and let me know what i think.

drove it home about 15 miles last night, as i was about home, going slow around the bends (turning in street and driveway) the rear end felt "tight" maybe like a rubbing feeling or could be posi hooking up.

anyway, left for work this morning, backing out of the driveway and out of the complex, wasn't "tight" feeling at all, bout 8 to 10 mins later, decided to give the old power break a try, unfortunately a car was coming and couldn't look to see if i left marks, let the car pass and found another spot to try, i figured the diff was warm after the drive and nice burnout and if it wasn't going to grab it would be now.

hit the power break, and held it about 7 or 8 secs right b4 a side street, pulled down and came back and noticed 2 nice even patches about 5 foot long, good deal,

however, when i had went to turn down the side street, i noticed the "tightness" again, it's not very noticeable at high speeds (had another 20 mins before i got to work, but pulling off the exits and into work, it was still there.

is my rear end just breaking in, or are the clutches too tight, too loose, etc.. any input appreciated. i would think it's just breaking in, but since it doesn't do it when it's cold, not sure.

thanks for any input

Put some Ford Posi additive in it. My Cobra did the same thing until I added some. You can get it at any dealer.

talked to my buddy, said he put like a 1/4 or half a bottle in, said it had some chatter, so he added the rest of the bottle, so it is in there?

Shouldn't feel tight or make any noise. I would suck it out and add new Redline synethetic along with a new bottle or Ford anti slip just to be sure. Other than that they may need redone. They won't make any noise or feel any different.
