How many I.T./L owners we have out there?

I realize this is "slightly" off topic, but I thought since this IS the internet and a tight bunch of L-enthusiasts, I'd pose the question.

How many do we have out there?

I'll go first, I'm an Informatica Consultant / "Road-Warrior"...

To get back on topic, I'm looking to score some "bright-white/blue" driving lamps and a Bed-Rug ASAP for my x-country sojourn.

I understand that if I don't match the watts/voltage, etc exactly, I can burn my wiring harnesses. Does anyone have any input here?

Also, I understand that Chickenears is the hookup here. Chicken, what can we do to conduct business?

Also, another point, I see that alot of you are based in the Northern part of the country. I know that salt is everywhere during the winter and am wondering what everyone is doing to keep the L "salt-free". (Short of garaging - which should be an option soon).

Thanks!

Ronald.

SVT_KY,

What ERP app. you support ? (SAP, PeopleSoft, Banner). I assume you've heard of Informatica. We "feed" you girls the "0s and 1s"! haha...

If I could get back "in-country" to the Texas/Oklahoma area, I'd be happier than a pup w/2 p#ckers !

SVT,

I'll have to admit that I haven't heard of those apps., although I have heard of JDE. I've been the 24x7x365 Informatica Admin. support "monkey" before and have vowed "NEVER AGAIN" ! 3am "wake-up" Prod. Support brush-fire calls (salary at the time) s#ck the root!

Cyntaxx,

If your serious about IT, etc. hang in there! Mid-6-figures is VERY attainable despite the hype.

I get to take a few MIS classes, but so far I think a double major in Acct. and Finance is for me.

Novell\Microsoft certified network engineer. Currently consulting at a international food company. Nice and small environment. Trying to get my own biz off the ground. Job market is completley saturated though.

SVT-KY- We use Manugistics at my company through Citrix.

Rqbrown- We are currently implementating SAP and the HR dept just finished a Peoplesoft project.

well i'm a management major but i figure it is wise to pick up a tech minor...i had enough background in computers to make it pretty easy to pick up a minor in MIS..

WT,

You have mail and hope to get your brother the IT hook-up.

All,

I don't have all the career answers, but having an in-demand specialty, willingness to travel and a tough-skin is the key! To put it all into perspective, I actually have 3 COMPLETE undergrad. degrees (Pol. Sci./Economics minor in Russian and an MIS deg. from Univ. of OK.) Da, moy "L" tovorischtiy !

So hang in there with the "changing majors" thing and it'll all work it's way out...

Ronald.
