Under carriage paint/coating questios??

Installing my exhaust yesterday, I noticed my undercarriage needs some tlc. Frame is getting some rust spots from where the jacks and lifts have been used. Rear end could use some tlc as well. Also was thinking about cleaning down my drive shaft and throwing a coat of paint on it......will that effect balance at all??

What products do you guys recommend or have heard off??

Cool

HI!... I used rubberized asphalt undercoating. I removed my wheels and bed and power washed everything. After it dryed, I used 12 large cans of this stuff. It's been about 2.5 years now since I've done it and it still looks like new. Here's a pic.

I had it done by the dealer as an option when I bought the truck. Wasn't gonna do it because the price is OUTRAGIOuS but they came way down on it since I paid X-plan. Looks pretty good. Just like Neal's but mine's not quite as smooth. He took a lot ore care then my dealer did.

HI!... Ayrton : I got it from CANADIAN TIRE store. It was about $4.99(CAN) a can. So for 12 cans it cost me about $70.00(CAN) compared to over $450.00(CAN) for ZIEBART to do it with twice the mess and 1/2 the undercoating.

HI!... Ayrton : I believe it was just the CANADIAN TIRE brand. Sorry I have no cans left, or I would post a pic.

The truck is coming along fine, thanks for asking. Money's abit tight right now. I just finally paid my truck off. So that's another $703.00(CAN) a month now that I can put into mods I have a few more things on my list to do before heading back to the track. My 9.75 posi is broken currently, so I'm currently saving up to get a EATON unit installed in my truck. Then a PLASMA BOOSTER and finally 16x10 rims with HOOSIER SLICKS. After I installed the 2400 stall converter, traction is being difficult to say the least. When this is done I think I will have no problems geting into the high 13's in N/A mode. Then comes heads and cams.

I had the dealership do it, but any bedliner should work fine. Its more the installation than the product if you ask me.

My truck was Line-Xed, so I assume they sprayed that suff underneath as well.

NO DON"T DO IT

don't use any rubberized undercoating.
I did this on a Jeep Wrangler I had and simply driving it peeled it off.

IF you want to protect it for ever and want it to look nice use
POR15.

I have this on my mustangs (69 and 70) in the engince compartment and undercarriage. you can not scrape this stuff off with a screwdriver.

it goes on incredibly thin and a little goes a long long way.
1 pint was enought for 2 engine compartments.

you brush it on, and it is self leveling.

it is expensive but worth every penny.

IF you do undercoat your truck make sure there is NO moisture. Do it on an extremely hot dry day.

the POR 15 nuetralizes rust (HONESTLY IT WORKS) and like I said protects it forever!
