Slicks on the street
Slicks on the street
Any of you guys drive to the track with your slicks on? Found a pretty good deal locally on a new set of 16x10 wheels and Hoosier 28/10/16 slicks mounted, balanced with tax for $510. Problem is, I don't want to have to drag a jack with me to the track and what would I do with my 20's? I know you guys are going to say buy the Nitto drag radials and put them on the stock 18's. If I'm going to spend the money, I want a true slick. Track is about 20 miles away, mostly freeway. When I go to the track it is usually with a friend and his camaro.
Thanks, Jeff

You could possibly drive to the track with slicks, BUT on the highway it might fill kinda swirly in the rear due to the softer side walls might have to drive a lil slower but also run the risk of pick up a nail or something that could ruin a slick, Id just throw in a jack and change them at the track
No,No,No.
Buy A $20 jack , some chain and a good lock.
1- It's Illegal (if thats not enough)
2- Slicks are softer compound and they pick up everything including glass (blowout)
3-If you get caught in ANY type of sudden rain you have ZERO traction.
4-What if you have to do a sudden manuever driving and the slick does not react like a street tire and somebody gets hurt. How would you feel about that ?, knowing something could have been prevented.
I drove once with my Hoosiers QTPs to a car show 3 miles from my house when they were brand new. I was more worried about something happening, or getting pulled over then anything else.
Never again.
Of course this is just my 2 cents , So do whatever you want.
