2002 Lightning Piston ?
2002 Lightning Piston ?
I am building a 4.6 block for my truck that I plan to supercharge. I have someone who will sell me some low milage (5000) 2002 Lightning pistons with a new ring set. He says they are forged and teflon coated.
Are they forged?
Will they fit my 4.6L?
Thanks in advance for any help.

FYI-
The L piston should be very similar to the '03 Cobra piston which is holding up with ~23 psi and 730 rwhp (so far).

And that tells you what? That it's going to fail? Is the L piston considered weak? Do you know anyone who has any info to indicate that the forged L piston is worse than some aftermarket piston?

Just my 2 cents
Well I decided to go against the pistons. Not because of any worries about their strength but because I want my starting CR to be about 9.1 to 1. I have PI heads to put on the engine so the stock pistons will make the CR 8.5 to 1 if I understand correctly.
Thanks for the input.

There are many Lightnings out there with stock pistons running very strong. If using Lightning pistons in a motor is considered skimping, then there are a lot of tight wade Lightning owners out there.

This is a moot point anyway, as it looks as if he's going w/ a higher CR.
I haven't heard of many piston issues in L's, usually rods. But like someone else said, why not put stronger pistons in when you change the rods. There are other parts that follow the same scenario. Check out the engine build up section on the tuner sites for popular parts to upgrade.
